Future Bayswater & The 6053 Food Pantry Interview with Steve Lay and Paul Shanahan – 20 April 2020
Tough times upon us.
Steve Lay from Lay2 Real Estate interviewing Paul Shanahan the chairman of the Future Bayswater. Discussing the 6053 Food Pantry, located at 16 Beechboro Road, Bayswater, which was launched in 2019, supported by the Bayswater community and local businesses providing much needed grocery items. These items are free to the local community who may need assistance with obtaining everyday items. Paul confirmed the current stock
levels in the pantry are quite low, mainly due to the current Covid-19 pandemic having an impact across the Perth metropolitan area. The 6053 Pantry welcomes local businesses and the local community to take the time to look in their pantries at home and put together a box or bag of items which can be donated and dropped off at the Pantry on Beechboro Road. Items such as non-perishable items and toiletries are in high demand, as such will go a long way to assisting families who may be doing it a bit tough during these difficult times.
Bayswater Growers Markets.
Paul also contributes time and energy with the Bayswater Growers Markets which provides fresh farmers produce such as fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, bread, coffee and a variety of home-made goods. The Bayswater Growers Market is open every Saturday from 8:00am to 11:30am and is located at Bert Wright Park, King William Street, Bayswater, Perth, Western Australia. Paul went on to say he is greatly appreciative of the City of Bayswater and the Bayswater branch of the Bendigo Bank who provide community support for the grower’s market.
Focus on the Bayswater Village
Paul mentioned the main focus for Future Bayswater now and following Covid-19 was the Bayswater Town centre, its people, businesses and the future growth combined with the new Bayswater Station project which is a METRONET precinct with the Midland Line, Forrestfield-Airport Link and Morley-Ellenbrook Line connections giving people the choice of
travelling to the Airport, Swan Valley tourist region, the CBD and beyond, improving connections across the railway, allowing for increased bus services to the station, improving cycling and pedestrian movements, and creating a rail bridge and station that fits within and compliments the town centre.
