Two major roads which pass through East Fremantle are Canning Highway and Stirling Highway.

East Fremantle is a river side suburb popular for families to who can enjoy boating and Yachting from the East Fremantle Yacht Club, play tennis from The East Fremantle Tennis club, fishing and rowing. There are an abundant of café’s and restaurants such as Eat Greek Restaurant, Zephyr Café, Dome Café, The Left Bank and Sweetwater Rooftop Bar.

East Fremantle is a residential suburb, relying on neighbourhood shopping centres in the area for daily needs, and the harbour Port city of Fremantle for other commercial services. The suburb contains a community centre, two small private hospitals and two primary schools.

Each year in November or December, the suburb hosts the East Fremantle Festival in George Street.

The size of East Fremantle is approximately 3.7 square kilometres. It has 13 parks covering nearly 4.3% of total area. The population of East Fremantle in 2011 was 6,930 people.
